There is not enough diverse talent in creative industries, and Elephant set out to change that. For the past two years, we've been running a free Experience Design (XD) Academy for emerging BIPOC talent. In an age where brands are expected to have engaging experiences, individuals with XD fundamentals will have a foundation on which to grow successful careers. Over 9 weeks, our part-time virtual bootcamp provides those fundamentals. Students are put into multidisciplinary teams, where they work on assignments for real-life Elephant clients. Adweek wanted to know what agencies were doing to retain diverse talent. Spearheading Elephant’s Commitment to Change, CEO Eric Moore is instituting several programs specifically for employees of color. He told Adweek, “when someone feels like they are stagnating or there’s no path for them,” there will be retention issues. He added that Elephant is focused on creating a “culture of inclusivity” to identify diverse talent and their strengths and ensure they are advancing in their careers.
